Ashurst managing partner steps down 6 months early

Feb 01 2012, 02:41 PM

Ashurst managing partner Simon Bromwich has announced that he will stand down from his role in May, six months ahead of schedule. Bromwich is set to take over as head of litigation from Ed Sparrow, who will return to fee-earning.

The firm said that in light of the imminent merger with Australian firm Blake Dawson in March, this is the time for any changes in leadership. No announcement has yet been made about who will take over as managing partner – a position that is appointed by the board rather than elected.

Senior partner Charlie Geffen said Bromwich had “done a completely brilliant job” as managing partner, helping to increase revenue significantly. Non-UK revenue increased from 24 per cent to 43 per cent of total income during the period.

Geffen added in a statement: “[Bromwich] has presided over a period of significant growth for the firm and has helped navigate it through unprecedented market challenges while consistently improving our client service.”
