Top US law firms avoid deferrals

6 Most of the top US law firms are currently not deferring associates despite the financial crisis.

According to the AmLaw Daily, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz; Sullivan & Cromwell; Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison; Kirkland & Ellis; Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges; and Boies, Schiller & Flexner are starting all of their incoming associates as originally scheduled.

Exceptions include Cravath, Swaine & Moore, and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett who are paying up to $80,000 to new associates who accept deferrals.
